theory. He has this enthusiastic notion that man
will return to a state of innocence somehow
through the magic windows of electronic media—
we will all go back to Eden, or some kind of
reasonable facsimile of Eden. I believe one of his
phrases is that, “All work will become play and all
play will become work and there will not be the
alienation—people will not be alienated from one
another,” and so on. It’s the utopian view, and
when he gets into those reaches of the imagination
I find it difficult to follow, but I always find utopias
difficult to follow especially when I don’t know how
to operate.
